Biking through the rural villages on the valley rim on back trails with up-and-down hill tracks is an exciting alternative way of discovering Kathmandu. These trips give one sufficient time to drink in the peaceful environment and make friends with the locals.
Our various day biking trips within the Kathmandu Valley allow one to discover and enjoy hidden pockets rarely frequented by westerners, thus providing visitors with a view of the region from a fresh perspective. These excursions are generally day trippers on the back roads of the valley and the surrounding areas, that visit rural locales like Bungamati and Chapagaon.
Our biking trips include:
The City Tour which introduces one to the historical and medieval townships of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan, view points of Nagarkot and Kakani, and the quiet sleepy towns of Sankhu and Budhanilkantha on an off-raod biking trip.
The Big Descent which includes a drive to the renowned mountain view point at Nagarkot (2175m), from where one bikes downhill passing through the sleepy town of Sankhu before riding back to Kathmandu.
Kakani to Kathmandu. This one is a downhill tour that passes through the holy site of Budhanilkantha on the northern rim of Kathmandu Valley before riding back to Kathmandu.
Five-day Extravaganza. This is a wonderful five-day experience that takes the cyclists on not just a cultural discovery tour of the Kathmandu Valley but a sightseeing expose with a spot of pilgrimage thrown in. The bikers are given the ultimate round trip of Nepal from views of the high mountains to adventure activities and sports in the Terai. A visit to the birthplace of the 'Enlightened One of Asia', Gautama Buddha, winds up the extravaganza.
