Langtang, Gosainkunda and Helambu Trek

Duration: 14 days 13 nights

Langtang, Gosainkunda and Helambu Trek

The Langtang/Gosainkunda region is a collection of Sherpa valleys north of Kathmandu, close to the Tibetan border. The rough road now goes as far as Dunche, only a day's drive from Kathmandu. Despite this, Langtang remains a relatively less trekked area. Bill Tillman, a famous explorer and climbing partner of Eric Shipton, described Langtang as one of the world's most beautiful valleys. The exit is by passing the holy lake of Gosainkunda and crossing the Laurebina La pass (4100m). While enjoying the excellent views of Tibet that can be had from there, one may also encounter Hindu pilgrims returning from and proceeding to the holy lake. Thereafter one descends for the return drive to Kathmandu.
